We played a week ago at Witt's End. Yeah, we got some footage for ya!
As you all know, we haven't released much media lately. Maybe you thought we were done. Well...you're wrong. Got some pictures AND a video from Saturday's show. If you missed it, well, we got more shows coming! Fear not!
Just a quick reminder that Wolf In Vain will be playing at Andy's Bar in Denton Texas (122 N Locust St, Denton, TX 76201). Tickets are only $5 for 21 and up, $7 for 18 to 21. Got some great bands lined up. Come see us, grab some drinks, and get ready for one night full of solid metal!
Earlier this morning, Taylor sat down with the site editor and talked about Wolf In Vain's debut album.
You have stated in several Twitter posts that it's going. It's being done. Is this the truth?
"Well, [laughs], yeah, it's in the works, but in a very early stage. We have some sick riffs laid down, and about three finished demos. Plus, I have several ideas for some songs that would just be utterly bad ass.
Will you be including your old band's [Whine Or Live Fearlessly] material on this release?
I've actually been getting a lot of fan mail asking about whether or not the songs would be on this one. All I can say is that W.O.L.F. died. That shit's in the past. I lost dozens of close friends because of that band. So, it's not guaranteed I'll ever go back to those. I know I did "Road Rage" and "The Killer" on stage recently, but what else could I do? I needed a good setlist, and Wolf In Vain only had the EP at the time.
There was also a new song at that last show, correct?
Oh, yeah! "Damned" is what I called it. I figured I'd need a good song for the show. "Thrash and Burn" came out in August, but some of the stuff was written back in January. I wanted to show that I can write on the spot with ease. Sadly, my performance wasn't the best because I forgot ALL the lyrics I wrote for it, [laughs].
What are some of the topics going on in the new album?
That's a good question. From what we have so far, there will be death, racing, a conceited soul, etc. We also have half a demo done dubbed "High Velocity", which is simply about being fast, whether you're racing, working, I don't care. Just being fast at whatever you want it to be. I'm not sure we'll have "Damned" on there. I'm working on a poetry book, where a majority of the songs are apocalypse styled. That lyrics I used on stage were taken right from one of the poems I wrote months ago. And then there was a song I promised to some friends I would make. Some people will yell out their own random words when they hammer their thumb or whatever, so I decided I would have to have my own phrase, because I was always burning myself at this KFC I worked at. So, "Gosh, Darn, Damnit," became a work in progress.
You just mentioned a poetry book?
Well, sure! Writing a poem isn't much different than writing a song. I'm good at both. Yeah, poems don't typically get associated with metal, I know, but that's why I decided to do this. It's rarely done. Think of it as the book of heavy metal poetry.
Sounds interesting. Anything else about the new album?
You now know as much as I do. We're really just getting started. The only other thing I can say is that I've had many praises on "Thrash and Burn" and I've sent many fans a write-back stating that this album will be just as fast, if not faster, than the EP.
Well, that's all I got from the frontman, but stick around these next couple months as I will continue to update you guys when I can!
Last night was a HUGE success! Everyone had fun, even had a stripper taking a picture of Taylor during the set. Taylor also recorded a quick preview of what the venue looked like before the show. Also, if you wanted to go, but couldn't make it, Wolf In Vain will be back at The Mix in Wichita Falls on New Year's Eve! Come party!!!
"Hey, guys! Taylor here. Just dropping by to let everyone know that I'll be opening for Wolf In Vain's first ever show, in Wichita Falls at The Mix on Saturday, November 30. I'll be singing on stage (the music over a PA), promoting 'Thrash and Burn'. I'll be open for photos, autographs, whatever, but most importantly, rocking out with fans of Wolf In Vain, as well as the other bands.
"Now, then, understand that things could turn around. I'm the only official band member. There is a drummer who is in the band, but he might not be ready in time for the show, and as they say, "The show must go on." This being said, even if I am the only one up there, this will still be a show to NOT miss. The energy will be explosive, so get on over there! If the drummer is in, it will obviously be twice the energy, but hell, either way, it's gonna be a metal attack! DON'T...MISS...IT!!!
"Also, I've been receiving lots of fan mail (hey, thanks! I love that you guys are such awesome fans!) and many of you have been asking when to be expecting the debut album from Wolf In Vain. Guys, this is a partial bummer. I'm not REALLY getting into the writing part until I get the word that this new drummer is OFFICIAL. As you all know, a band is a group of musicians. A team. I need to collaborate rather than write and record everything by myself. So, that part knocked out, I have written some. A few titles include "High Velocity", "The Killer", and "Nothing to Me". These aren't officially on the album.
"I have also received a few emails about whether or not all of W.O.L.F.'s demos are being re-recorded for this album. The debut album will be full of energetic, thrashy songs no matter what. I'm planning to re-record those demos, but whether I use them ALL right now, or mix and match with future albums is a mystery. So sit back and relax. In due time.
"Alright, The Mix Nightclub (3138 Seymour, Wichita Falls, TX 76367). Be there at 7:45 p.m. W.I.V. goes on at 8 p.m. From what me and the band manager have HEARD, admission is $5. There might not be admission, but bring some dough just in case. I hope to see all your faces there. You've all been Wolf In Vain's supporters (some of you migrated from W.O.L.F.), and we owe each and every one of you the most kick ass debut performance we could possibly give! Some come rock out with us!"

Hey, rivet-heads! So, you all want to know when we start gigging? SOON!!! We just hired a temporary drummer who will be playing in the band until we find our official drummer. Things could change. though. Our temp. drummer could become our permanent drummer. Who knows? Who cares? What matters is that we have him learning the material at the moments, and he is coming along. In fact, he has progressed through half the material on "Metal Rebels" within the past two weeks. Give us some more time, folks! We are inching our way to GIG #1!!!
With the temporary drummer now in (we will announce his name in the next few weeks), we have some even greater news. While he is learning the covers, Taylor and Matt have had time to sit down and plan out some new songs. A sneak peak at one of these may come out in the next few weeks. However, this first new song will have no appearance in the first few gigs. Taylor noted, "You know, I'd love to play it right away, but 'Metal Rebels' has many songs. I'd like to focus solely on those tracks for the first five or six gigs. We don't want to play every song right away. We want people to WANT to see us more than once."
W.O.L.F. has had some trouble seeing the light at the end of the tunnel throughout our past. These past six months have shown the us struggling to break free from the path we were on, and set foot on a path that will take to the top of the world. We finally have our drummer. We have a kickass demo album (Metal Rebels). We have a team. We are a family. Now it's time to move forward and start our stage lives. We are almost ready.
